Wow. What was I thinking! But I am so thrilled with myself. I wanted to share a recent accomplishment that had me sweating (quite literally!) under the scorching sun. I managed to assemble a round yard all by myself in 30-degree heat. Yes, you heard that right! As it turns out, it’s truly amazing what we can do when we have to.

Before we dive into the details, you might be wondering, “What on earth is a round yard?” For those unfamiliar, a round yard is a circular enclosure used for horse training. It’s designed so that the horse can move around freely, without corners to get stuck in. A simple yet effective tool for equestrians, but not so simple to assemble — especially single-handedly.

It all started with my round yard arriving when my husband has had knee surgery. With all my time being taken up with work and caring I had managed to get some free time on the long weekend but it was a blazing hot day. The sun was beating down relentlessly, and the temperature tipped the 30-degree mark. But despite the unyielding heat, I was resolved to finish the task at hand – setting up my round yard.

You might ask, “Why would anyone decide to construct a round yard in such extreme heat?” Well, necessity is a powerful motivator. When you’re faced with a task that has to be done, you’d be surprised at the lengths you’ll go to complete it.

As I started, I quickly realized it was not going to be a walk in the park. Each panel was heavy, awkward, and burning hot. Yet, step by step, I found myself making progress. I was soaked in sweat, but the sight of it coming together kept me going.

The process was challenging, no doubt. But as I was assembling the yard, I realized I was also assembling a grander lesson about perseverance and the power of necessity. I learned that we could achieve far more than we think we can, especially when backed into a corner (or in my case, a round yard!).

So many issues along the way but I was solving one problem after the another and before the weekend was finish, I had done it. I had built my round yard, all by myself. As I stood there, gazing at the finished structure, I felt a sense of accomplishment that was worth every drop of sweat.

So, the next time you find yourself facing a daunting task, remember my story. Remember that it’s incredible what you can do when you have to. And who knows? You might surprise yourself with what you’re capable of achieving.

In the end, whether it’s building a round yard in the sweltering heat or tackling any other demanding task, the power of necessity can drive us to accomplish feats we never thought possible.
